Description
The Forster UK 110 film insert is designed for perfectly masking your film for digitisation with a DSLR, mirrorless, compact digital camera or smartphone. The insert simply slots into the front of the pixl-latr film holder (also required). With the 35mm-T and 120-T gates also in place alongside the insert, all light from behind pixl-latr is masked. This allows for high-quality digitisation or “scanning” of the film. The 110 film insert also holds the film perfectly flat against the pixl-latr diffuser, the result of this is corner-to-corner sharp images in as high a resolution as your equipment is capable of capturing.
For best results, we recommend fixing your chosen digital camera to a stand such as a copy stand or tripod. pixl-latr can be backlit with any light source including dedicated light boxes, video light panels, tablet screens, or even daylight if pixl-latr is used on its legs. If using a camera with an interchangeable lens, we recommend the use of a proper macro lens. Though a close-up adapter lens or extension tube can also be used for very good results.
For 110 film, a high-powered macro lens of at least 1:1 is required. To fill the frame of a full-frame camera, an ever higher-powered lens is needed. There are now many 2:1 and even more powerful still macro lenses on the market. If using a smartphone, a macro or closeup lens might be required. Though many high-end smartphones now have very good close-up capability.
